What did YOU do for the 4th of July?

What did YOU do for the 4th of July?

I went to the zoo.

Then we went to Woodlawn Lake, where they have all kinds of music and activities and a big fireworks display every year. We got a nice spot right next to the lake. We had just gone to Central Market (and spent too much money, as we always tend to do when we go there) and had an awesome picnic spread. Just as the Air Force Band was about to play, it started raining. Then it rained harder. After about an hour of shivering underneath our soaking wet picnic blanket, we decided to make the long hike back to the car in the rain. Of course, as soon as we got back to the car, it stopped raining and the fireworks started. Argh!

We went to the FC Dallas game. There were light drizzles. Nothing heavy enough to warrant the family in the row in front of us whipping out the biggest umbrella I've seen in my life. We couldn't see half the field.

Then it was followed by a Radio Disney girl band. Wee enjoyed that. And then Kool & The Gang played forever. When they finally stopped the fireworks went off. Big ups to the Frisco folks in charge. You put on a fireworks display that couldn't be seen from the stadium and charged admission. Good planning. Everyone ended up walking out of the stadium to watch the fireworks from the parking lot. It seemed as if we were right underneath them!

Traffic was a complete nightmare. It took me a full hour to drive about 7 miles home. So, I went to be late and had to drag myself out of bed. And they turned off the air conditioner at work so it's like a sauna in here.

I'm a bit grumpy this morning.

coffee.

I was at the game, what a lameass game.

we didn't stay for the radio disney girls, they looked hot in their picture. I ended up at a friend of a friend's front yard to watch the lakewood fireworks, not bad at all. The I pulled out my box of fireworks and we continued the show on gaston. then there was the swimming and bud ice. I don't feel well.

Dealt with sewage back-up.
It totally sucked.

Waiting for the plumber today so he can roto-rooter me in the ass. :x

(The only upside is we usually have people in from out-of-town and have a party; thank god this year we didn't.)

Are you sure you weren't lurking around Dallas, cutting power lines in Mesquite, Lake Highlands and Oak Lawn?

Got up.
Went to work.
Worked.
Went home.
Ate dinner.
Ran 5k.
showered.
Watched end of Italy beating Germany.
Went to bed.

I thought about cutting up some tea bags in the kitchen and then pouring them down the sink whilst singing "The Star-Spangled Banner" or "My Country 'Tis of Thee". But considering we were 1) running low on tea bags and I would have been killed by the tea-mad masses, and 2) the company I work for is Danish and employs a lot of foreign workers, the joke would have been lost.
