ha. wouldn't peg me as the condo type, eh? i don't feel like pissing my money away on an apartment like most kids fresh out of college do. if i can just save up some more money, i can own. and in a few years, i can sell and there's my down payment on a house. real estate is such a great investment. i figure why hand a landlord money when i could be repaying the bank?
i'd rather not move out before i'm financially stable enough to support myself and make my mortgage payments in a timely fashion. no sense in going bankrupt while i'm trying to get ahead financially.

Sunny's tips for condo ownership:
1. GO TO YOUR BOARD MEETINGS. Seriously, act like you give a shit. Most people don't. If your complex is new people usually care more but in the older places a lot of people have moved away and are just renting their units and they could care less.
2. ok, I acutally don't have anything else; it's really just like an apartment except people tend to stay longet so you get to know your neighbors a bit more. Go to your board meetings.
Good luck! I heart my condo.

you can pm me the answer if you don't want to post it, sunny, but how much was your condo? how much did you pay for down payment and how much do you pay each month? i'm just trying to figure out if ten thousand dollars is enough to move out with or if i need more. basically i want to figure out if i am EVER going to move out of my parents' house. sigh.

Aw, cute.
What I paid for my condo will make you sick. Really. Tx real estate is dirt, dirt cheep compared to the east coast, especially if you plan to stay near Boston. I picked up an aparment guide while I was there for a good laugh.
What's important to remember about the dues is that they cover insurance and maintenance on the building, so all you have to carry is renter's / occupant insurance. That's one of the reasons they can seem so expensive.
