Midlake's "Roscoe"

Music, movies, entertainment, etc. Because James wanted it (and seems like a pretty good idea)

Midlake's "Roscoe"

Postby aquaphase » Wed Apr 26, 2006 2:19 pm

I know the Trials of Van Occupanther aren't supposed to come out for a while, but the first track really really really sounds like a reject Blue Oyster Cult song. Anyone else heard it? Hell, the only thing it's missing is cow bell. I already smell a remix.

Takes me back to smoking the maryjane in someone's basement ala That 70s Show.

The first band that popped into my head upon listening to this record was Fleetwood Mac. I can see your point about BOC, but the whole thing has the feel of Rumours...

you know what you do? prep a package that looks like a CD. in it, take a blank CD case. rub the inside of the packet with vasoline, and put the following note in it: "HEY YOU FUCKER. THIS PACKAGE HAS A DYE. YOUVE JUST BEEN CAUGHT, AND YOU WILL SOON BE GOING TO GAOL. STOP STEALING MY MAIL." (this threat works *especially* well if the person you suspect happens to be a mailman.) or, if you really want to be effective, say "THIS IS YOUR LAST WARNING. BE VERY MINDFUL OF WHAT YOU STEAL NEXT, AS IT MAY BE YOUR LAST."

you'd be surprised how quickly mail stops disappearing!

there are 7 older tracks (4 from the last album, 3 from their debut) at their website, there's also a streaming link on bella union's site i think.

i asked sebastian's thoughts. he said music -- fleetwood mac for sure. vocals -- kansas. haaaaaaaaa. i think canned heat for the vocals. but much more appealing melodies.
