Today I discovered...

Music, movies, entertainment, etc. Because James wanted it (and seems like a pretty good idea)

Today I discovered...

Postby zenmomma » Mon Mar 20, 2006 9:51 pm

Due to a rising trend in recent posts, and the fact that I'm a sucker for new music... perhaps we can post links to our latest music finds here... if it doesn't flourish, oh well... but here goes...

Today I discovered... Tapes 'n Tapes

I am currently rediscovering "Miles Davis: Live at the Fillmore" through headphones.

This is some crazy-ass shit!

Yeah, tapes n tapes has been the buzz lately. They are on my "need to check out" list.

Last night I discovered Track A Tiger. I'm in like with them very much so far.

Interesting; I'm not familiar with this. Is it similar to Ambient 1?

Yeah, but I actually prefer this one...just sits with me better than 1.

Well, I didn't discover it today, but I am excited that Calexico has a new release april 11, and they will be at Lollapalooza (hopefully not with iron & wine, who are also listed and they just toured with.)

Anyway if you have the time and effort, go to www.music.yahoo.com to see their video of Cruel. Just scroll down to music videos, then 2nd page bottom under C (I'd link it myself but I have no skillz) It's worth the effort. When the horns kicked in I almost cried.

Their other video is pretty humorous.

Anyway... I'm in loooooove.

Apparently Gnarls Barkley went to number one before his single came out in stores... all from online sales. Crazy. Part of me feels like that is cheating.

I'm about to go discover the new Morrissey album.

We also got the new Flaming Lips & new Secret Machines ldiscs last night.
Gotta go get them on ye olde mp3 player.

they just changed the rules so you don't have to have a 'physical' presence instore to count... which used to be gotten round by having a ltd edition pressing of 1000 vinyl singles in any case

i havent heard it yet and myspace is taking 324958 hours to connect. boo.

oh well time to investigate the klaxons, apparently they are a punk band influenced by altern-8, early prodigy and mad smiley anthems. gurntastic!
