I HATE Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree, Let It Snow, Jingle Bells, and I especially hate R&Besque versions of O Holy Night.
amen, especially to the last part.

shitty remixes of carols suck. although today i heard (in anthropologie again!) a french woman singing oh come all ye faithful (in french, same tune) but there was more modern instruments kind of sporadically. it sounded good though. not like "I'm dreaming of a techno euro-trash christmas".

haha i make myself laugh ^

also agreed on shitty remixes of o holy night. too many ornaments distract from the beauty of the song's actual melody. i love o holy night in french (cantique de noel), nothing like it.
dread stuff

mere - the jesusy joy to the world. the other one isn't christmas as far as i know. i think the Spork just do it to "rock out".
this is true, but if you listened through the cacophany, you'd notice that the horns continued to play the carol version over the top of the Three Dog Night version...of course, that was before we realised subtlety got completely lost...

What celebrates divinity more than Three Dog Night?

For my jazz class I arranged War Is Over in 5/4 time with a blatantly stolen piano lick. Yesterday we recorded it. Tomorrow I will bug my teacher for an .mp3 version until he punches me.

i think when you sell the rights to your song, you are selling the right to veto crappy covers.

does that mean the cure sold "just like heaven"? if not, how do you account for the terrible version of it in the movie by the same title? hmmmmmm? mere can back me up on this. we saw it on our mommy daughter date.

Yeah, actually, that was my last show in the band, Xmas '04. I have a recording of LDB from that show and I think it sounds awesome.

And no, I wasn't at the Xmas show last year, and subsequently stayed out of all that. You're thinking of the Sept 11 show at Granada, which was pretty great, I thought. Best Part was a blast. You, me, and Roach were way up front with a bunch of kids who I'm pretty sure were terrified of us.

Paper due in one and half hours... I should probably get back to writing it.
