I don't doubt it. There are a lot of inherent truths in The Simpsons, even if you think it's rather far-fetched."Just say slavery..."
heh did you see the DVD commentary to that Simpsons episode? Apparently, the INS agent saying that is a true story.....
I mean, Rupert Murdoch really can throw three small parcels to the ground and they turn into guards. And he can make a marching band form his name with one phone call...

If you can only give a one word answer, then I guess that would be it.I don't doubt it. There are a lot of inherent truths in The Simpsons, even if you think it's rather far-fetched."Just say slavery..."

You should talk nice about Rup, he's listening.
the extra credit question on the test was "who is an american?" and i said it's someone with american citizenship. then i said the only common characteristic is that you have to be somewhat apathetic to live here, because someone is always getting screwed over. and i said you dont have to have any specific political or religious beliefs and you dont even have to believe in civil liberties, as first proven by Adams (Alien and Sedition Acts) and now by Bush with the Patriot Acts. So to be an American you have to have a social security number and live on American soil. Aren'tyou proud?

isn't that true of everywhere though? isn't that a life thing, not an american thing?then i said the only common characteristic is that you have to be somewhat apathetic to live here, because someone is always getting screwed over.
dread stuff

Whenever a single mother teaches her child how to tie his shoes, they are an American. When an elementary school class is reciting the pledge of allegience, they are Americans. Whenever a spectator at a baseball game looks up at the best damn flag in the world during the best damn national anthem ever conceived and sheds a tear, he is an American.the extra credit question on the test was "who is an american?"
Wherever one must work for freedom and struggle against oppression, America is there. Wherever terrorists cower in fear in their little caves and have to spoon each other for comfort, America is there. Wherever a market system prevails and both parties get what they're looking for, America is there.
Wherever the stars and stripes inspire hope and vanquish fear, AMERICA. Wherever our nation's schools help educate our young people to the highest standard, AMERICA. Wherever an individual may do whatever he wants that doesn't interfere with another's right to do the same, AMERICA.
America is all around us. It is in the air. You can smell it at barbecues. It is in the soil. You can smell it after a good rain. And most importantly, it is in our souls. You can sense it in everything you do. From dropping your kids off at soccer practice to voting, you are excercising the America inside you.
Some people tell me that America is just a country, with borders and limitations and laws. But I know the truth. America is made out of good people doing good things for the good of mankind. That is what America really is. Americans are the embodiment of everything pure in America.
