you can probably sue if you care enough/want to spend enough money. otherwise you can shake your fist and/or do some yoga and deep breathing.

i wish it were simply myspace. this is more of the 'let's get an email address and make it look official and mail people telling them to send all correspondence to another address' variety. based on what i feel (which is based on me feeling extremely pissed off) it is a criminal act; i'm pretty sure it is a felony.

but about the only thing i can do now is take preventative measures (i have), take a deep breath (i am), and maybe a bottle of nyquil. (damn, i'm out.)

I don't think anything done over Email is a felony (yet).

It could be worse, though. When you catch the person doing it, ask them if they know who rented an apartment in Houston with my name, DOB, SS#, and driver's license #, then broke the lease. I'd like to get that $4,700 off my damn credit report. And I'd like to know that they're not still out there somewhere with my info.

ouch.

it could have been a lot worse, and though i think i've pretty much contained this particular problem, it's still....piss-offing.

I was a victim of identity theft. It sucks ass. However, none of the fraudulent charges have ever hit my credit report.

As a Certified Fraud Analyst, working in one of the most fraud-infested countries in the world, I can safely say:

1) you should all own a shredder and use it on any bills, bank statements, etc.

2) question the sudden reception of junk mail, as in where they got your details...

3) never, ever throw away a hard drive.
