Okay. Remember that time you were trying to synch up Dark Side of the Moon and Wizard of Oz? Remember whenever a song would stop and there'd be that little gap and you'd be all like "I wonder if that messes up the syncronicity?!?"
With the new iTunes, there's the option to turn off those little gaps between songs.

ok i just downloaded the 7.0, and I think this is the best upgrade I've seen yet. Gapless playback does indeed rule. It makes a noticable difference. The only thing was I had to sit and wait forever for it to configure 45000 tracks for gapless playback...I actually went to the gym. The interface looks far more professional. Yeah, the icon changed from green to blue, which I'd rather it be green but hey, consider it like getting to the next level of Tron or Q-bert or something...or like the itunes version of the 1up mushroom

Ok, I just put it to the Pepsi Challenge, and it's not quite as continuous as the cd, but it's damn close. I played "Ballet For A Rainy Day" into "1,000 Umbrellas", which, as any XTC-phile will tell you, is the most seamless transition in the history of recorded music. Or the history of music.
Anyway, there's the slightest anticipation when the song switches....to the untrained ear they may not even notice, but it is a slight rush. Still, MILES ahead of the last one. I highly recommend downloading the 7.0. Seems pretty stable as well.

try listening to a ripped version of My Bloody Valentine's "Loveless" - one of the many beauties of theat record is the way it segues from one song into another and the little loopy beauties that link the songs and the album together. With MP3 playback, there is that little one second gap when it switches from one song to another. With gapless playback, you can now listen to albums as they were meant to be listened to.and why would I want gapless tunes? seems like that would cut off some of the end of the previous song, if you ask me.
*hug*Ohhh I get it. It's like when you are listening to Jellyfish, and it changes from All is Forgiven to Russian Hill. It never has the same effect when you listen to it on the computer.. unless there is gapless playback. Genius!
*adds download iTunes 7.0 to to-do list*

ok i'm bumping this.
i just downloaded the update (like, JUST NOW) and i like it. it's a lot prettier and i like the blue music note. i was afraid to update it before because i got a bug last time i did it and my itunes was NEVER THE SAME. but now it's better so that it is good.
also, i thought it already HAD gapless playback? was i wrong?
