Some love for Midlake in the Fort Worth paper

Music, movies, entertainment, etc. Because James wanted it (and seems like a pretty good idea)

Some love for Midlake in the Fort Worth paper

Postby Sybil » Sat Jul 08, 2006 11:04 pm

Did anybody else see this article in the FW Star Telegram about Denton's own Midlake? I think you might have to register to read it, can't remember, but if you're too lazy or paranoid to register then too damn bad. It's a really nice feature.

The article points out how Midlake, much like another local band we all know and sometimes love, has gained popularity in Europe far in advance of any stateside notoreity. Must be true - I saw a posting on my Jayhawks board carrying on about them...from a guy in IRELAND! I was so surprised, I had no idea they were very well known outside Denton, much less across the Atlantic.

We are going to see them next week in Bristol.

I'm interested to see how many people are there.

I can't wait. :)

there were about 120 people there, small venue but nicely uncrowded ie. you could stand at the front and have lots of space around you.

fionn regan was the support, his album is coming out next month and is worth a listen judging from the live set (if you like acoustic singer songwriter stuff)

i really enjoyed the midlake set - we were chatting to a couple of them beforehand and during the set i had a song dedicated to me (kingfish pies) :D

afterwards we were hanging out by the merch booth and chatted with some of the others, they were off to gatwick to get a flight to spain for tonights show. they were really nice, friendly guys.

they're going to be back in europe later in the summer and the uk in november, we picked up a couple of tickets for the london show today.
