The Remarkable Photography of Vernon Evans
Category: Art and Photography

My best friend at JJ Pearce High School was a kid named Rusty Evans.

Rusty and I used to sneak our cameras into rock concerts and shoot 35mm photos of our favorite bands. After I transferred to Richardson High for my senior year, our paths drifted apart and I never saw him again.

Last year when I was working the door at the Roxy Theatre in Los Angeles, he reintroduced himself as Vernon Evans.

Over 25 years have passed since the last time I saw him. Since then, he has gone on to become a well-respected portrait photographer out here in LA.

This past weekend I got a chance to hang out with him and dig out some of his old photographs from the Dallas punk and New Wave scene in the late 70's. We also posted some photos that he took in Tibet, India, Mexico and Cuba.

As you can see, he's one of the best photographers to ever come from the Dallas area.

You'll find his album in the "pics" section. Take your time. It's an amazing collection of once-in-a-lifetime photography
