We were just watching morning tele on itv, with a family and their 14 year old son talking about how the son had had a broken neck for the last 10 or so years, without realising it.
Anyway, it slowly dawned on us, after the many clues of the boy being called Alfie, and the dad being called Chris and having a very big beard, that it was the Spree's (and Helen and Russ's wedding do) towncrier Chris with his 'ring the bell, son' Alfie. Twas pretty crazy seeing them on tv, and realising that Alfie would have had a broken neck when we saw him!
Ring the bell, son!

One of my friend's mom was in a little fender bender and heard her neck pop when her head hit the headrest. It was a little sore after that but nothing that really concerned her. It didn't get better for a couple days so she went to the doctor. He could't figure out what it was so he took x-rays. Turned out that cancer had made a couple vertebrae into swiss cheese and she had several small fractures.
Sorry. That's a terrible story. Anyway, you can definitely have a 'broken neck' and not know it.
