That market that's pronouced weird, I think. Where that bar is that's a reproduction of the Cheers set. One of the reasons I assumed she was from Texas was that it was a pretty touristy area. That and the obvious sense of entitlement.

Oh, just one thing I noticed while voting this morning. While squeezle and I did get to fill out a scantron paper ballot (a massive three sided monster this time around), the republican candidates were placed at the top of every single item. I understand that I live in the mother of all red states, but this is downright retarded. Odds are that a moderate percentage of people are going to go through and just vote the first candidate on some races they aren't sure of. I think I'd rather see it done alphabetically, or even by a predetermined lottery draw, but putting the ballots Republican, Democrat, Libertarian. Independant seems pretty damn biased.

Kerry sucked. I'd take Gore in a heartbeat. I'd vote for John McCain over anyone else.

Dems and Reps are both aweful because they're the same party. So all the party-bashing is a waste of time. Just vote for the person who has raped the least amount of children and has voted for the least number of unconstitutional laws/bills/acts.

And if Rick Perry ever becomes president (which he won't), especially if he "beats" someone like Obama, I swear to Allah I am getting the hell out of here because that is the first sign of the Appocalypse.

I noticed that too on my mail-in ballot. At first I thought it was just that the incumbents were at the top, but surely not every single Republican is an incumbent. There were also about six races where the only candidates were a Republican and a Libertarian. I don't like either party, so that was a toughie.

I would agree that contemporary politics and the people it attracts are inherently suspect regardless of affiliation, but the parties are different in big ways. It's mostly domestic policy, though *snore*.

To the "politicians all suck anyway" point, here's a job where

1. You will ALWAYS have more detractors than supporter (or at least you'll hear the detractors more),
2. Your life (and the lives of people you love) are objects of public scrutiny, and
3. You have to raise something like 5 five times your salary just to HOPE to keep your job.

Who the hell wants a job like that? The way I see it, they're either:
1. Utterly, obsessively power-hunger crazed egomaniacs,
2. Fucking saints, who really are in a selfless pursuit to make the world a better place (who's laying odds on this?).
3. Corrupt, and in it for the payout.

Fron where I sit, there's no reason that an honest person of any measure of intelligence / competence (that is, any person who has the ability to be successful in the private sector, where your life is your own) would go into politics.
