judaism doesnt really deal with the afterlife, but there are a couple of things it says about it. 1: everyone goes to purgatory for a while, longer or shorter depending on how you lived (but no one goes forever) 2: there's some ambiguous line that says something about being united with god when you die, so some people think thats "heaven" but others think you become part of god or learn from god 3: most jews believe in reincarnation, so even if you go to "heaven" it is just for a while, therefore its not really heaven in the christian sense.
but in any case, i was raised not thinking about the afterlife, so no matter how jewish i consider myself, i don't really care what happens to "me" later, because i think you lose your identity when you die. its not like my soul will remember itself as dalya, it will remember the different things that affected it in this life in its next life as whoever. in any case, i wasn't taught to be afraid of hell when i was little, so i dont base my actions on whether or not i will be punished for them. the punishment is feeling bad in this life.
yadda yadda i could go on forever about how i hate the heaven/hell bullshit.
p.s. i really want to see jesus camp. has anyone else seen it?
I myself am hell;
nobody’s here—
