this album has held up for me. that makes me happy.
now I guess I need to get the split. they play dallas next saturday. with the kadane bros. maybe that's just centro. whatevs.

and if you've ever had an animal for it's cycle of life, tracks 7-9 mean so much.

one more edit, saw them play the record live in ft worth a couple years ago. my first show on crutches, it was so fucking good. they played it track for track with a slide show.

that record...didn't move me as much as Welcome, Convalescence. Then again, Dual Hawks is perhaps Will's greatest work EVAR, so, ya know, it's just as well.

i don't understand why the press kit and the band tried to make it sound like Dual Hawks is inaccesssable. to me, the key to that record is to not listen to it as ONE record. split it up and take the albums on their own merits. honestly, after i bought it, i read several negative reviews, and i started to have buyer's remorse before i even got it. but then i gave it a play and WHOA, it's like Will just totally kicked my ass with his whiskey and weed-scented songwriting

the centro-matic side just totally reminded me of the good ol' Quality Park/Idol days, and the South San Gabriel was simply an amazing SSG that reminded me of their previous records without sounding like their previous records.
