Daydream Nation

Last night, I saw it performed from start to finish at the legendary Roundhouse in Camden. I wondered how they'd cope with playing an album nearly 20 years old, when they were much, much younger (in their 50's or damn near except for Steve Shelley at a spritely 44). Their new albums are awesome, but nowhere near the sheer power of Daydream Nation.
That was put to rest about 30 seconds into Teen Age Riot. I'm sure they haven't played some of those songs in nearly 20 years as well, but you couldn't tell. It was a top 5 gig of my life.
Also, they came out and played about a 40 minute encore.

Incinerate, Reena, Do You Believe In Rapture?, Sleepin' Around...in fact, I think all of it might have been from Rather Ripped....a nice juxtaposition from the Daydream Nation stuff....

sounds like a good night
didn't they say they couldn't play a lot of the older songs when their gear was pinched.... or was that a polite way of saying we're bored with that, listen to our new stuff instead?

i thought they got most of their gear back? i don't know though...i seem to remember something about it being given back to them anonymously because it couldn't be sold or something...maybe I'm dreaming...
something else interesting...they played Daydream Nation as a four piece, but brought out some dude (not Jim O'Rourke) to play bass on the newer stuff. At times, they had double bass guitars and it sounded...so...good.

I saw them do this at the Pitchfork Festival earlier this summer, and after hearing them for years and seeing them twice before, and honestly, having never been a fan, this show turned me. It was fantastic.
Somebody get me that album.

The show in Glasgow was one of the best I've ever seen. Daydream Nation, 2 encores and Kim Gordon dancing.
