The Cure @ American Airlines center....

I haven't bought tickets. And I really should have, but I just don't feel motivated. Plus, I'm kinda broke. And at $25 for a parking spot (the rate on the TM site), it better come with a blow job. I'll park and ride thankyouverymuch!

I'm sure I'll get more excited later, and I'll kick myself if I end up with shitty seats, but there's no way they'd be able to top the Bronco Bowl show for me anyway...

Too be honest, I didn't really get into them until I got the Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me cassette tape from my friend Amy Testa. I think that was 1987 because it was 7th grade.

I have never seen The Cure. Is this a band I should see sometime before I die -- and before they get any older than they already are??

At the "Curiosa Festival" (I don't know why they felt the need to call it a festival...), there was a couple with two boys between 4 and 8; they had tiny reproductions of classic Cure shirts and mom and dad had put spray color in their hair. It was fucking ADORABLE.
But yeah, last two times I saw them were there (Starplex) and Coachella, and both shows were just ok. I much perfer the smaller shows (Deep Ellum Live and Bronco Bowl), but doesn't everyone? The 96 show @ Reunion ranks way up there on my "best concert" list, but that may have had more to do with what was going on in my life than the show they put on... though they did play for like four hours, and they didn't need an opening act.

I'm going, partly because I can't imagine not going. But I don't know if you have to see them sometime before you die, mainly because I think unfortunately the "them gettin any older" ship may have already sailed... They're kinda past it. (Sorry Bob)

I've seen them twice...once back in the 80s early on and then once maybe early 90s (could have been late 80s too).

first time was great as I was front of stage chatting with R Smith. Second time, I thought...I could have stayed home and listened to their records. I was BORED...I haven't been back to see them since. I'm in NYC when they're playing here and that's just fine by me.

only saw the Cure once, they played a small "club"* tour when the Wish album came out. Got up at 7 (not bad for a student) and then spent 7 hours in the queue (sorry lectures) to snag the last 2 standing tickets. How times change - nowadays that would have been the server crashing at 9.01

I remember losing my friends as I was bored standing towards the side and decided that heading into the pit was a better plan. Robert Smith from the Cure looked a bit miserable too. But it was a better plan as I had fun bouncing around.


* club = Portsmouth Guildhall, approx capacity several thousand. Apparently this show is out there on DVD as well as audio. At the time the last shows had been at Wembley so it was billed as an 'intimate tour'
