I bought The Cars debut album the other week and I really like it. Now, I was wondering if I should delve further into their back catalogue, is there another particularly good record, ones to avoid etc...?

Just give in and buy the big shiny box set. It's all really good.

totally agree with this statement. the box set really separates the good from the bad. and though the cars weren't *bad*, the songs that don't appear on the box set...you won't miss 'em.

box sets are for chumps (who already have all the albums).. Cars: Cars is, imho, their best. but candy-o is a good follow up. honestly, just the self-titled is enough to give me my ocasek fix... top 10 of the 70s fo' sho'

Being a huge Cars fan, I loved Panorama and Shake It Up. I hated Heartbeat City.

I can't believe Ric wouldn't tour last year, though. :?[/i]

It was really weird with Todd Rundgren and not Ric O. and Kasem and not Ben Orr.

I have always loved Todd and Utopia (and The Cars)...but we went to the show more to see Blondie.

Losing Ben Orr when we did really almost killed the reunion idea that was floating around. And he lived in Atlanta when he died. I had no clue! His only real hit was "Drive" -- Ric sung most of the popular stuff.

I got lucky enough to see The Cars in 1980 and on the Heartbeat City tour (don't know year) -- although on that last tour it was apparent they were losing their popularity when half the stadium was empty. :?

I thought about going to a New Cars show, but the clips I heard weren't all that promising. Did the keyboardist still rock?

My favorite part was when he was a fly.

That model should be used whenever someone needs a good example of 1980s fashion/beauty.

The fact that he managed to marry Paulina Porizkova is commentary enough on 80's standards of beauty. That or twu wuwv.
