the lead players in "that band" were at midlake last night.

after the place cleared out, they started playing tracks from the new album.
i only heard two before m'lady decided it was time to leave.
one was new to me and the other i have heard live a few times.
the one i've heard before features lyrics about flying.

i must admit, imo, it wasn't bad. kind of like his earlier band (a little) if you took out all of the rock.

if you took out all of the rock.
so, without all the parts that make it good?

yeah. it's not ear-shatteringly awful. but it doesn't sound like anything approaching "good".

also, they appear to be playing mere blocks away from my house a few saturdays from now, so i expect to see my fellow dentonians in the parking lot behind lou's on 3/24.

Look for me, I'll be there. *shrugs* I likes what I likes.

I noticed those familiar faces at the show on Saturday, but I didn't see you, sadly.

I may be using the intro to We Sound Amazed for a school project. I still love that song.

What a coincidence, I am currently listening to a song called Flying by a sorely missed band that started and ended with a U and had FOF in the middle!

Having heard most of the record, I can say it sounds nothing like that.

What it does sound like is an off-off-off broadway caberet. Just wait until you hear the "Fragile Army" track. I'm still trying to figure out where/how the title figures in.

It's not a matter of hating it (I do dislike it, but, then again, I dislike most of their stuff now because it makes me think about the lie we all were busting our asses to perpetuate). I'm just very very confused by it.

and you hardly seem the person to be confused by a lot of music, so that's saying a lot.

The title doesn't fit in. The album is confused.
