He seems to be a professional concert goer. According to wikipedia, he's been to a show every night since '96! But otherwise, he's a good barometer to know if the band you're about to check out will be good or not.So it seems there is this Beatle Bob guy from St. Louis and he's all over the place.
Why is everyone so into him?
Lollapalooza this coming weekend.

hmmm. let me go over my list.
I forget which show it was, but at one of the first shows where I "experienced" him (probably a SXSW gig), he was doing his moron dance and kept bumping into people at the front (especially me). When asked to either move or stop, he ignored people and kept going. He almost earned a neck punch that night.
I have watched him on numerous occasions hop up on stage and do his "thing" to the annoyance of many an artist. It's about them dude, not you.
He is in total denial that he contributes nothing to society. He goes from fest to fest, weaseling his way in and expecting to be treated as a celebrity. I believe he began as a failed music reporter from Cincinati. When I saw him at ACL two years ago, he was arguing with security that he was Beatle Bob and needed to go backstage. What a fucking ass.

oh, okay! i've heard of that guy. i think there's a bonus scene on the DiG! DVD where he does that thing, security throws him off, joel and matt hollywood jump offstage and bring him back on, then talk shit about security...i think that was the guy.
but someone like that, i could see them easily being annoying as shit.

Beatle Bob:
The Good - SXSW 2002 (and subsequently 2003 and 2004), dancing at our shows and we even kidnapped him for a while. He seemed a genuinely nice person and a true lover of music. I believe that to still be the case.
The Bad: Bowie tour, 2004, standing outside the venue in New Orleans trying to get in backstage by yelling up to our dressing room all night. It was a bit sad but we were under strict guidelines on the backstage area on that tour. Afterward some of the group tried to talk to him but he was being a complete arse.
The In-Between - I think it was one of the later SXSW performances where he stayed on to dance for the entire set. Even doing some sort of mime-ish crap during king. Odd...
No bad feelings, but I've never experienced him from a fan's point of view, just as a performer.

When I heard about him, I just thought that he must really have a kind of sad life. The guy's a gimmick, and he can't have much else going on in his life if he really has been to a show every night for 409823409174 years.
And actually, James' post makes think Justin's right... because clearly the guy's capable of being warm and engaging, as long as 1. you're a "somebody," and 2. you're giving him what he wants.
