If you were wondering where we had been hiding for the past week (or, even if you don't give a rat's ass), squeezle and I were fortunate enough to take an incredible cruise up from Vancouver, BC into the Inside Passage of Alaska. Everyone should do this at least once in their life. Here are some pics.

Talk about taking a break from your everyday life. . . that looked amazing!

I can't believe the water is so clear that the ice looks BLUE!

And are those whales in the water?

we ate too damn much, drank too damn much, saw countless critters in their natural environment, wandered the ship, lather, rinse, repeat.

What was really funny was that bald eagles really are like pigeons up there. You can't turn around without 3 or 4 of them flying by.

That mean we can soon start hunting them again?

Cool.
My in-laws did an Alaskan Cruise a few years back and totally dug it. They said it was beautiful.

Wow. I'm jealous. You even got a pic of the rarely-photographed Squeezle.

I'm soooper jealous! I lived in Alaska when I was a kid ('77 & '78). I'd love to get back sometime.

At this very moment I'm wearing a belt buckle we picked up while we lived there. It was a gift for my grandfather and he gave it back to me last year.

So, besides the bald eagles, what other animals did you see?

we saw ravens the size of turkeys (very scary), humpback whales, orca (from a distance), otters, mountain goats, harbor seals, sea lions, a brown bear and plenty of north american hairless apes and hippopotami.

yes, the alaskan amber was spectacular. Their ESB (which I had on draft in Juneau) was probably the best ESB I've ever had. The amber is really malty and has a nice finish. I'm going to try very hard to get this stuff in TX.

Did you guys see any moose? When I was there a few years back, they seemed to be everywhere!

That's really not very nice. They're called Eskimos.

Did you see any narwhals?
