Just one more reason to stay out of West Texas. Let those crazy rednecks kill themselves while burning as much gasoline as humanly possible.

Stupid, stupid, stupid.

HEY! That just hurts. We're almost to the point where the speed my bro and I were driving when we hit that deer is "normal"

Besides, have you been to West TX? You have to fucking drive over 80, there's nothing to see for hundreds of miles. West TX is where insanity lives.

I am from Montana and up till just a few years ago we had no speed limit. The law simply stated "You must drive in a reasonable and prudent manner" in other words, speed like hell just dont hit anything. It was fun while it lasted.

Not to be confused with West, TX, home of the Czech Stop and an obligatory stop on I-35....

Yes. and they are all practically craaaaaazy. We went to Monahans, Big Bend & Pecos and every where in between for spring break with the kids last year. We fell in love with the place. Terilingua is especially cool.

But the folks the live out there are a bit off their rockers. It's the heat, the warm beer, the mercury poisoning or the peyote. Or little bit of each.

The only speeding ticket I've ever gotten was in rural Nevada (not unlike west Texas). It was back when the national speed limit was still 55 mph. As the officer was writing me out the ticket, I thought for sure I was gonna be in big trouble when I got home because it would mean a rise in insurance premiums. When I got to my destination and was talking with friends, I found out that (at that time) anything under 70 mph was written up as a "waste of fuel" ticket and it was a $15 ticket and not reported to insurance. I guess it was their way of not losing highway dollars and still letting people make it around the state in a reasonable amount of time. I did tell my husband when I got home, though-the kids were in the car and my son was old enough relate our adventure.

Of course, that would not help many of the drivers I encounter on the highways of our fair state of Texas. It seems that 70 mph is the minimum speed on all rural roads, including those with 2 lanes and no shoulder.

I don't think I was in West Texas, but when I was supposed to be visiting Houston, we hit the road in a Jeep and did about 85 all the way to San Antonio and back. Nice and flat makes it easy!!

on my way from austin to dallas yesterday (sunday) i saw 9 state troopers pull people over, and late last night i saw a 10th on the tollroad in dallas.

guess theyre behind on their quotas. why dont they send all those state troopers with nothing to do to the border??

Memorial Day weekend and other holiday weekends are prime time for speeding tickets, DUI checks, etc. because so many people are on the road.

I know it's not Texas, but I got stopped in the first road block I've ever seen in this town at 4 am Sunday morning after a night out. No probs, as I had ID ready and had two breath mints after I drank earlier. :D

Inbetween Monahans and Big Bend is where I thought I saw a UFO for a couple minutes. I don't see how people that live out there could be normal.
