at this point, i realize i am actually going to have to say something to this huge group of kids. duh.

any suggestions would be verily appreciated!

How about setting up a huge 30-minute powerpoint presentation proving how it's physically impossible for a fat super-old guy to get inside houses, bypass so many different burglar alarms, and eat so many freaking cookies, all in one night. If there's still enough time, don't forget to tell them that their hamster didn't run away after all, and also why they can't visit Mr. Roger's Neighbourhood anymore.

with second grade just use lots of facial expressions and make your voice sound excited and they will be interested. with 5th grade making some jokes always helps.

Someone at school today told me I have a "social mindframe" (what?) similar to that of a grade 5 student, so I can safely tell you that fart jokes and noises are funny.

Do you have any pens you can give away?

I brought pens with glitter and stars floating in them to the 4th and 5th graders I talked to at Career Day last year and that's the first thing they mentioned when I got (teacher suggested/forced) thank-you notes.

"Thank you for the red pen. I look at it every day when I am board. I am writing with it now! Thanks for the funny camersholes too. Career day was good. Love, LaKiara" (paraphrased)

- Mere "I also had them play the game telephone to illustrate the importance of clear communication with a large group of people -- so if you can adapt some kind of game that might be fun, too??" 1975

I was thinking some sort of treat to but couldn't think of a good one. The pens sound great.
Kids love flashy free stuff; who doesn't.
