...movies you got from Netflix and/or the video store?
Me, it's Au Revoir Les Enfants, Barton Fink, and Jesus Camp. I'm international, baby.

Yesterday Son of Rambow (saw it the theater and had to share with the kids.) and
The Visitor. We are watching The Visitor tonight.
I got
Les Enfants du Paradis and Au Revoir mixed up. I was about to get all excited for you, J. If you ever get a chance to check out the former... do it.

i think you should check out
Au Revoir Les Enfants and show it to Wee and the Boy. it's Louis Malle's autobiographical film about his life during World War Two in a Catholic boarding school in the French countryside, and how this school took in Jews. it's an extremely beautiful film.
Les Enfants du Paradis sounds utterly fascinating, though.

we currently have:
no country for old men
rain man
slings and arrows: season 1, disc 1
we've had rain man for like a month and haven't gotten around to it. it might suffer the "return without viewing" fate.

i saw 'rain man' when it came out and i liked it; i checked it out about six months ago and i couldn't make it past the first 15 minutes. i simply cannot take tom cruise seriously as an actor anymore.

Have you seen any of that series? If not, be forewarned, it is one of the best things I have EVER seen on television, and it is highly addictive. You will probably want the rest of the discs on hand before you even begin. I once spent an entire day watching a marathon - starting at about 6 AM! I should think it would be particularly appealing to a theater person such as yourself.

Ooooh! I'm gonna have to check out Slings and Arrows.
If you dig Canadian TV I highly recommend Robson Arms.

we rented semi-pro and american gangster last weekend, most enjoyable. Then it was Wall-E for Aim-E and some Sopranos for her train rides this week.

Yesterday, I went to see "Happy Go Lucky" in the theater. It was fine, but I was disappointed at the pacing. The first 30 minutes just dragged on and on, and there was a totally unnecessary scene with a homeless man -- and I had been expecting a delight! Oh well.

- also watched Shaun of the Dead
Same here. I think it was on comedy central. This is one of those movies I can watch again and again and never get bored with it.
I was thinking about this in the middle of the night (I was freezing cold but too lazy to get up and do something about it. So I laid there thinking about movies and how cold I was.) I compiled a short list of movies I probably watch annually, if not more often.
Run Lola Run
The Princess and the Warrior
Shaun of the Dead
Bottle Rocket
The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou
Cool Hand Luke
The Great Escape
