I read that this morning and it disgusted me. Fuck the retailers (fuck wal-mart) for creating an environment where this is allowed and fuck the shoppers for their greed. I seriously hope all joy remains elusive for them this this season.

My thoughts are with the family of this poor man.

my dad works nights at walmart. after reading this i called him up and told him about it. he said things didn't get too hairy at the gbc walmart, although he did see a few fights break out over xbox 360s and wiis.

people are just fucking ridiculous. it's really scary what happened to this guy in long island, and i hope they end the black friday specials at walmart from now on.

Hopefully, this incident will put a stop to this frenzied insanity of black friday shopping. Creating enthusiasm for your products is one thing, but this annual ritual has taken on epic proportions, and it was probably just a matter of time until a real tragedy happened.

I noticed in one of the stories, they mentioned that the police shut down the store to investigate. Sadly, that's what will probably have the most impact in terms of stopping this foolishness - ultimately, a lot of revenue was lost. That's the kind of loss that gets their attention.

I commend their christlike behavior. Christ often trampled people to death to buy crap made in sweatshops from underpaid employees.

I'm not buying anyone presents this year. I'm gonna buy a goat for a village in Africa or something instead.

We got a Heifer International catalog in the mail a couple of weeks ago and then yesterday Mary Steenburgen was on Rachael Ray talking about how they (she and Ted) support that organization. I'm thinking I may have to send them some $$.

My Grandma and my mom do Heifer Internatinal gifts. It's a pretty neat org.
