in the midst of all this politicing, the passing of a literary great has gone almost unnoticed. he wrote some great stuff. he wrote some crap. but damn, jurassic park is amazing.

While 90% of his stuff was utter shite, I will always respect him for one thing

damn, i didn't realize he wrote that. but it makes a whole lot of sense now. and now i'm thinking, 'westworld--it's like jurassic park, except with horsies.'

Man I didn't know he wrote that one either...well it's not like I've ever read the book, but I LOVED the movie as a kid. (perhaps it only was a movie? I don't know)

I enjoyed some of his stuff, but it seemed like his writing over time devolved into screenplays thinly disguised as novels. But, Jurassic Park was greatness and ER was groundbreaking television in its day, and I was shocked and saddened to hear of Mr. Crichton's passing.

And Studs Terkel too.
