We're getting cable...

okay, it's really U-verse. They've just upgraded to fiber optics in our area and will be switching our internet so they knocked on our door to sell us more tv channels than we can possibly watch in a lifetime. I signed the paper to get free installation and service for a month.

Once my husband checks out the sports, we'll probably have to keep it but probably not all the channels.

What must I absolutely check out while we have it? (They'll also give us the DVR for the month but it'll probably take that long for me to figure out how to use it to it's potential.)

As a person who has also recently come out from under the broadcast-only TV rock, I second Tracy's question. Right now I'm really just watching HBO. And I watched Trueblood once. it was meh. Wait, wasn't there another thread like this not too long ago? Besides Nerf's I mean?

As a side note / industry geek thing, I think it's interesting that the cable companies were so keen to keep the telcoms out of the TV business (it was the whole theme of their big ass convention three years ago in Atlanta), yet I now know at least two households (well, including mine) that probably wouldn't be consuming pay-TV at all if it weren't for the telcoms. Suck it, Time Warner!

Also Tracy? I'd like to make a prediction that in a month you'll be 100% addicted to that DVR. I got mine free for a year but I'd have started paying for it after the first three days if I'd had to.

And here we are tempted to go the other way around.

There are times when I want to throw my television in the front yard and stone it.
But not really.

But yeah, I do.

No. I don't.

It's only purpose is to pump advertising into my home. It's evil and must die.

But I love her... I mean, it.

what was the question?

tv makes for short attention spans.

I like my tv and cable, but hate my cable company. oh well. I also hate those dishes that look like crap hanging off the side of houses...so I'll stick to my cable

yeah so my point was....um I forgot.
