I want to create a site where I can basically host my band's songs and people can download them, and nothing else. Just maybe a link to it on the myspace site. How easy would this be, and could I do it for free?

it's easy, but you need to pay for a domain name and probably some base level of hosting.

No company, that's the thing. I'm currently hijacking other peoples' wirless connections.

I won my webhosting for free as some sort of christmas contest, so you may get lucky. If you're gonna pay, I recommend Swifthost (since that's the only one I've ever been familiar with)

I use
www.34sp.com for very good value, cheap hosting, but I only use it for hosting web stuff, not large music files. It might not be best for you, but check it out.

You could use
www.godaddy.com , it is cheap and a favorite of those posting live beheadings, so music shouldn't be a big deal.
