B

2x+2y = 36
x+y = 18
y = 18-x

then

x^2-x+6 = y
x^2-x+6 = 18-x
x^2+6 = 18
x^2 = 12
x = +/-sqrt(12)
x = +/-2sqrt(3)

answer sets
(2sqrt(3), 18-2sqrt(3)) & (-2sqrt(3), 18+2sqrt(3))

If you divide 2x+2y=36 by 2 you get x+y=18

i left out a step...

2x+2y = 36
2(x+y) = 36
x+y = 18

with 2x+2y = 36, you can divide everything by 2 and it gives you x+y=18

I should have gone into something with math. This thread makes me happy.

You and Bon should be study partners. She's doing the exact same thing.

She's going back to school this fall... and after so long of a break... she and I both had a look at the practice test and manual.

It caused panic attacks.

oooh okay. thanks guys. i get it now.

it's not that i don't know how to do that math, i just have a problem looking at the problem and recognizing what i need to do to solve it. also i am terrible with anything that has something to do with graphs. although i'm cool with charts.

i'm fine with math in a classroom setting. but tests...yeah i suck at them.

there is algebra, geometry and they also have super easy word problems with integers, proportions, ratios, etc. it's the algebra i have the most trouble with. i'm kind of wishing it did cover pre-cal and trig since that stuff is fresh in my mind.
