sicko

Postby Dalya » Mon Jul 02, 2007 8:15 am

made me cry.

fuck you, michael moore. hi dumb jokes and obnoxious use of stock footage makes me want to hate sicko, but i thought it was pretty good in spite of myself. there were still the usual problems but this time no overt partisan message (besides saying healthcare shouldnt be a partisan issue). only got annoyed with unnecessary shots and montage sequences (ex: all the shots of the boat on the way to cuba... wasted a good 120 seconds on nothing).

anyone else seen it yet?

p.s. the whole theater applauded at the end... im sorry but that still annoys me. i dont applaud for a movie unless the movie is fucking mind-blowing and i do it without even thinking about it. i find it strange when people do it. also strange to see sicko with the particular audience that was there tonight. the jokes they laughed at, etc was very diff. from a dallas audience.

the only people more retarded than people who applaud at the end of a movie are the people who applaud at the end of a flight.

People still do that? When I was young, applause at the end of a film was considered mannerly, but I thought that sort of thing had gone the way of most good manners, and by that I mean disappeared.

it was mostly young people. it was applause applause not polite applause. you could tell by the way people reacted throughout the movie (one woman nearby kept saying mmmm hmmm in, im sorry but what can only be stereotypically described as the mmmm hmmm mannerism of black women).

my friend ren went to see it and michael moore was at the theater. she said the camera actually slims him down and he's larger and more huffy/sweaty in real life. figures.

But if you applaud at the end of a flight (and this should only be done after a particularly difficult flight), at least the person you're applauding for can hear you. And that person actually sort of made sure you weren't killed. So I say flight applause > movie applause.

i applaud every day that there's not a terrorist attack or a random mishap that is mislabled a terrorist attack.

i also applaud every time i see a person turn CNN off.

and i applaud when bands dont even bother to leave the stage before the "encore" and just mill around for a few minutes before playing another song. its more honest.

Maybe it was sarcastic, like the Sarcastic Clapping Family of Southampton.

we just saw transformers, and, yes, there was clapping at the end - it just made me laugh at dalya.
then on our way out the usher said "thanks for coming have a nice day i don't wear sandals" - that made me laugh too.

AT me or with me?

People should have clapped at The Lives of Others. Has anyone seen that? German film. It was incredible. Best movie I've seen since City of God. The actor in it is perfect.
