I thought this was a joke at first but after seeing the richard and judy the guy was actually serious. It's still funny though to think that this guy with the logic of a retarded 12 year old writes a book just so retarded 12 year old 'americans/british' read and say "yeah! WE'RE better than YOU, look at all the stuff WE did"
oh yeah Joe Mc12yearoldretardlogicman? What did YOU do today? did you invent something/cure something/fight for something? Oh yeah I forgot YOU slacked off in your cubicle all day, went home and played your xbox until midnight before jerking off and going to bed. Infact I think thats all you've done since you left college, maybe that's why you want to blame a non existing THEY for YOUR boredom and lack of virtue.

I'm tired of all the UK vs USA crap. I was really anticipating a barage of questions about school violence and gun control at work today. Thankfully nobody said anything.
This book is just more fuel for the fire. Sometimes I feel like I have to prove to people here that I'm not a complete idiot and that my country is in some ways worthwhile.
I guess it can go both ways. Meh. Buttons pushed indeed.

Yeah, that would get old quick; sounds like me telling people why i'm vegetarian. I think you should write the embassy and demand a stipend for your diplomatic efforts.Sometimes I feel like I have to prove to people here that I'm not a complete idiot and that my country is in some ways worthwhile.

I know the guy is serious, but he's just another ass trying to make a name for himself, and the Americans who buy into the story (I'm sure there will be plenty) are just trying to feel better about the things we all know America has been guilty of by acting like the Brits are worse. Which of course is ridiculous because we were essentially the same country when a lot of this shit was done.
Britain was responsible for the slave trade, right. Like "we" as Americans had NOTHING AT ALL to do with that little incident.

"What, all these black people? I don't know man, these guys with funny hats just brought 'em over and dropped 'em off. They said it was ok to go ahead and use 'em like property, how were we supposed to know the black folks weren't cool with it?"

This is the sort of logic that comes from someone who would be shocked and outraged that a student could go on a killing spree at a backwoods Virginia University that results in a few deathe, yet not bat an eye when twice that amount are killed in one episode in a country that they have caused to be that way.
And at any rate, just about anything this guy says against the British is really a "pot-kettle" moment, because, well, America came from England, and if it weren't for those expansionist ways, America wouldn't be that big. Plus, it's not like England was the only country trying to expand...
This author represents a large faction of Americans that tend to believe that American = right, and this is just a reaction to the fact there are things America is doing that is blatantly wrong, by trying (and the operative word is "trying") to poke foibles at the UK. But the sad fact is, it's just that. Seriously, when's the last time America won a war it started? They came in late to WWI to save the day, and again in WWII. Their presence helped expidiate the ends of those wars for sure, but after that? Korea? Vietnam? Iraq? Nothing can take the record away no matter how you spin it...
I guess my buttons are pushed too. Fortunately nobody has brought this up at my place of work either. I didn't have to defend myself against the gun culture and school shootings either. But fortunately for me, my accent is such now most people think I'm Canadian. I usually correct them, but maybe I'll just let them think that now...

I feel that way too with my other forum which is mostly UK folks. Now these people know me online and in person (as I visit often) and STILL I feel like they just don't get the US (and they really don't). I travel to the UK often, now that doesn't make me an expert, but it sure gives me more of an idea how they do things vs. my UK counterparts that have 1. either never been here, 2. only been to FL aka disney world, 3. still don't get how big this country is vs. theirs and the need to do things differently. The comments on the You Tube video just wind me up.

UGH, it's sometimes quite frustrating. And since I'm only one of a few americans on this forum I feel the need to defend my country all the time. Even around the shooting..."just another reason the US should outlaw guns...etc." as if it were that easy to do at this point.

not sure that i follow the logic - for several hundred years England was the most powerful country in the world and did both good and bad things. Now America has taken it's place and does both good and bad things.
This book seems to focus on the bad in the same way that lazy English people perceive America to be bad without considering either the good things or the fact that it's a different fucking country.
can't see i spotted any secrets either....

Okay, I just watched the "mini-documentary," and I have to completely agree with Squeezle: this guy is nothing short of a total dumb-ass. Forget what's in the book, the promotion alone is fallacious enough to discredit the author and his entire premise.
