Comfortable Ride

A Comfortable Ride

Frozen between air and breath I was
Looking
Back and through the most mindful of tunnels.
The air was long and damp.
Tip toeing through some scene with a
Passé lantern
Fueled by swollen knowledge from a cover story about pop psychology from a
1971 Time Magazine.

I woke the next morning with my
Feet squishing through a river bed running with the
Coldest, cleanest water.
Children around the world
Raise your hands in opposition to those
That keeps tight control on our soul.
Locked away inside our hearts
The new is rising one by one.

We were so surprised to find that the
Battle was as good as one.
In our darkest light, amongst a string of frightful, sleepless nights
Began a hum.

At night we found our inside the moon and we
Heard a bird whispering...
“Ode to sleep perchance to dream
to live again those joyous scenes.”
With all the hope that a barrel of salty leaking from a
Pirate’s eye came our only reply—

I would like a comfortable ride when it is time to go.

it's good to have the random Rubbs ramble back. It's sorely missed.

I imagine that bird like a wise, old owl from the 70s.

I really like this one. It's probably just my mind set, but this actually doesn't seem ramble-y to me at all; as poems go, it's pretty coherant.

fun fact:

it's harder not to feel a little bit smarter and a little bit better after reading a Rubbs-ramble.
