ooo check this out

Freedom Arrives at Dallas Love Field
Congratulations! After 27 long years, the Wright Amendment fight is finally over! Beginning October 19, 2006, Southwest will begin selling one-stop (same plane) and connecting service outside of the Wright Amendment restrictions. And in eight years the Wright Amendment will be completely eliminated. This is a momentous day in Southwest Airlines’ history--a day which never would have arrived had it not been for the heroic and steadfast efforts of all our wonderful Employees and Customers.

Southwest Airlines Offers Customers $99 One-Way Fares and Increased Travel Options From Dallas Love Field.

Finally it will be cheaper to fly into Dallas. So what's the deal with the Forkers Xmas Party? :D

for the first time in years, american actually posted a bigger third quarter profit than southwest.

competition existed in virtually every other market in the world, but dallas, before the amendment was repealed. american was allowed to have what amounted to a monopoly. repeal of the amendment will be good for both companies in the long run. american may have to sell a ticket for a lower amount but when more people are on your flights the difference is easily made up.

I don't think American had a monopoly, there are a lot of airlines @ DFW that aren't American. I usually do fly American though; they're usually the cheepest and I personally have experienced fewer delays / screw-ups with them than with Detla, Northwest, and United.

American rules.

America West SSSUUUUCCCCKKKKSSSSS! They were going to leave Sam and me stranded in Phoenix on the morning of the Rose Bowl because they canceled the connecting flight to LA for mechanical repairs -- and worst of all, only one person in their whole terminal seemed to care.

American is ok for US Domestic flights, but I think their international flights are sub-par. For an average of $2 more, I can fly British Airways, which has better food, more comfortable seats, and nicer staff.

It would be hard to avoid Southwest's prices, but American can look at what British Airways did in Europe; they can lower their prices to just above what Southwest charges, and they'll do just fine because of 1) assigned seats, and 2) meals/snacks that aren't peanuts. At the moment, everyone is winning.

Plus you get the little private TV in the back of the seat in front of you <3.

But I fly American internationally anyway because it earns me serious miles. I'm an AAdvantage Awards whore.

Frontier Airlines does that for domestic flights out west.

If I move back to the US, it will be to Seattle. That place is just awesome.
