well, it wasn't meant to *be* creepy. i was watching something last night and there was this kid who looked like a relative of mine, and i was like, 'whoa, if i were her daddy, i'm not sure how i'd feel about watching a kid like her being kidnapped...'

and the curiosity led me to wonder if parents feel such things....

mr j, I think that people without children can still respond.

I think the "because I said so" is a pretty good phrase for 5 and under...after that they start getting wise....best to come up with new one. I quite like "Who's in charge here????" or something along those lines.


as far as seeing someone that looks like a loved one being hurt or something...wouldn't bother me because being smart...I know it's not them. and it was a weird question...you have too much time on your hands.

my mom used to always use the 'BECAUSE I SAID SO, STUPID' phrase on me. she still does. but i don't think she ever called me stupid until i got older.

I never use the "because i said so." If I ever revert to it... it means that I don't have a sincere reason to back up my demand. I've always tried to explain the reason behind my decisions if they are truely interested.

But I have reverted to the "because I'm your dad." line.

And as far as the creepy question.. no. I can seperate reality and fiction. There are enough worries out in the world without having TV create a few more for me.

last night i asked dolan if he was stupid as he set the table for dinner and it was covered with dust (formal dining room don't get used much, but my parents were coming for dinner...) he unset it and wiped it down, and i almost started crying for the fact that i said that to him. that is why i had to buy him a yacht that he will receive for his 16th birthday. but seriously, that was pretty stupid. and i was pretty brutal.

that being said, i don't think kids that are abused or whatever have to LOOK like any certain person for me. just having a kid and having to put someone else before me (on that rare occasion) has made me more sympathetic and stuff. less self centered.

nah, not really, i mean yesterday in the car she told me to "SHUT THE FUCK UP" aaand she is just like "krrrrristen" when i say fuck sometimes because some days shes trying to quit cussing and some days she's.. not? but overall, she doesn't really care.
