I hated Kerry. But not because of his wicked liberalness or Vietnam record. It's because of his chin.

Him, Jay Leno, and their fucking chins. Ug.

The Republicans I know still love to bring him, his wicked liberalness and Vietnam record up as often as possible like that is the definition of what a Democrat is.

I still can't believe They figured out how to turned his 3-purple-heart-winning service in 'Nam into a negative.

What is more Red State/Wal-Mart/middle America "American" than serving your country in a war?

Especially in light of the fact that this election 30 years later is during another war?

And then, upon returning from that war, having the freedom to speak out against it?

I don't really want to discuss it. I am just still annoyed.

And the fact that your opponant's daddy used his position to get your opponant into the National Guard and out of harms way during that same war.
Let alone the questions about whether or not your opponant even fulfilled his National Guard duties.

Id' still be annoyed too, except I hated Kerry. I wanted him to win, but I hated him.

I liked him just fine.

And when one of my professors (a good one, too!) said his parents still don't buy Heinz ketchup because of John Kerry last month, I wanted to BARF all over the place.

I watched a video of a bot fly larvae being removed last night. I didn't barf but I walked right up the the edge.

Then this morning as I was eating breakfast at work.... a lady came up to me and told me all about her dog's abcess being lanced at the vet yesterday.

That made two close calls in twelve hours.

My Bianca had an anal gland abscess and had to be put under to have it cleaned out but I had the decency to not share it with anyone - until now, of course.

When the lady at Dirty Dawgz (seriously bad name) "expresses" Bella's anal glands, she can't help but to show me what comes out of it.

GA-ROSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!

Sorry about Bianca, but sounds like she's all right now.

Back, maybe, on topic. I found this to be a very Linda Richmond-esque poll. Any comments:
FACTORS AFFECTING VOTER SUPPORT

The Gallup/USA TODAY poll recently asked whether respondents would vote for their party's nominee if he or she were of a certain race, religion or age. The results:

95% would vote for a Catholic candidate (4% would not)

94% would vote for a black candidate (5% would not)

92% would vote for a Jewish candidate (7% would not)

88% would vote for a woman (11% would not)

87% would vote for a Hispanic hopeful (12% would not)

72% would vote for a Mormon (24% would not)

57% would vote for a 72-year-old (42% would not)

55% would vote for a gay candidate (43% would not)

45% would vote for an atheist (53% would not)
I re-ordered it by % of acceptance.

Wow.
It's surprizing to me that 5% of Americans would answer that they wouldn't vote for a black man. The true number is probably a lot higher, but racism is so subtle these days that even the people perpetrating it don't often admit it to themselves, much less to the Gallup people.

There's no accounting for that, not easily. Can we assume that the relative difference between the groups is probably still fairly accurate? I am mildly surprised that a Hispanic candidate falls to fifth on the list. From the old 'electability' standpoint, I think the cues that would cause one person to define someone as black, Hispanic, etc are subtle. At any rate, if I were trying to handicap the race between Clinton, Obama and Richardson, this conflicts with my impression of things.

black MAN > any WOMAN

obama is way more likely to get elected than a woman. i think spike lee is more likely to get elected than hillary. (there was a really funny thing on SNL weekend update about how black obama is. look for it on youtube.)

god, spike would just wet his bed if obama got elected. i guess he'd have to stop hating white people if we actually elected a black man.

or maybe not.

it surprises me that fewer people would vote for a Jew than a black person. Maybe it shouldn't, but it does.
