Baby gate her in a room with hard floors and a wee pad.
See I could do that (no hardwoods yet but the bathroom's big, like two walk in closets), but I don't know how that's really different than a crate. We bought a crate for grow-up her, so it's gimungous right now, compared to her - which that link also says it too big.
Meh, I'm not that worried about it actually. Emotional scars only show on the inside, right?

I'm sure she'll be fine no matter how you lock her away

As long as you love her and give her treats and belly rubs, you and she will be fine!

Because I don't want to turn this into a dog training blog, suffice it to say the web site is right. She's too widdle to spend the night all on her lonesome!

Another tip from a dog trainer who did our obedience class -- feed her in her crate! You can even take her kibbles and scatter them around on the floor in her crate. She will be less likely to mess in it and it will help with house breaking.

It worked magic on Murphy, whose crate was also too big (but the only one tall enough for him to sit upright in) and had been causing him to think it was fine to relieve himself in.

Oh, one other thing. Her name is Birdie.

Birdie Jo Blue... Perkins-Bundy. She'll never learn her signature!

Our pup's middle names came from the kids singing songs to them.

Katie Girl (to the tune of Soldier Girl)
Lola Pop (to the tune of Lollipop. Ba-boom-boom-boom)

UPDATE: She's a boy. D'oh!

That's what I get for listening to Jason and not checking myself (in his defense it was dark when we picked her up). We're back to the drawing board on a name.

HAHAHAHA that's happened to me.

my first kitty I was told was a girl...several weeks later after she'd learned her name...the vet informs me it's a boy. I just looks stunned then started laughing so hard. Needless to say Safena became Mr. Safena Kitty. He had anger issues there after.

It shows. How long did his parents think he was a girl?
