well the governor has some power, because if texas decided to leave the union the governor would become our president.

president kinky? hmm.

bell reminds me a LOT of al gore. if he loses it will be because he's "boring". sad. especially sad with al gore, because after his loss he's proven to be better than anyone thought (who knew he ACTUALLY cared about the environment?)

Bell does seem a bit more polished than genuine. Has anyone read Freakonomics? One of the most interesting parts was about money and campaigns:

Maybe Kinky can run for Governor of a break-away West Texas?

the panhandle should secede from the union and kinky can have that. who cares about the panhandle anyway?

I'm sure there are plenty of local elections that matter, but it looks like the Tx Gov is a done deal:

10/27/06:
29% - Bell
37% - Perry
14% - Friedman
15% - Strayhorn

The only way Kinky can affect this election now is to drop out and endorse Chris Bell.

isn't there a run-off if the governor doesn't have over 50% of the vote?

if so, everyone would vote for bell the second time around.

If there is a run-off, Bell would be lucky to get half of Strayhorn's votes. It depends on who's voting for her. Because if it's disillusioned Republicans, they just might choose to not vote rather than endorse Bell.

I have received 3-4 anti-Strayhorn postcards from Rick Perry's campaign. I think I only got one negative on Chris Bell. None on Kinky. Does that indicate who he's threatened by?

And why do the Republicans have my address?

I'm pretty sure we don't do run-offs. Except of course for the chemical kind, into the ground water supply.

Well, and for primaries.

I get all these mailings from a Republican running for House representative that say "Henry Bonilla is YOUR pro-life candidate!" I guess I live in a conservative area of town or something.

Also, I think I may be voting for Chris Bell. I'll have to take down all my Kinky signs/stickers first.

I DO live in Dallas, but I live in the GAY part. Weird that they'd target my zip code. Huh.

I got one Dewherst ad. Other than that, all I'm getting is stuff on the state senate race. Apparently, Toby Goodman steals money and Paula Hightower Peirson wants your children to be raped.

The fact that I've recieved 3 or 4 campain ads about this race that featured a close up photo and horrible story about some poor child who was brutally abused and killed really pisses me off at both of them. It makes me want to vote none of the above.
