We didn't drop the crazy money for the bigger conference stuff. I'm just not that into it. So we went for general admission... which meant we got to walk around and look at stuff for sale.
I took the boy and his friend and they went batshit. They loved it. I got a kick out of looking at stuff I had at one point and what it's worth now.
Look for a GI Joe movie to come out in '09.
And a '83 mint Snake Eyes in the box goes for $1200. I told my boy how I had one and played with it till the arm fell off. He wanted to kick me in the business for that.
One thing I noticed was much of the GI Joe stuff sold and featured was from the figures that were introduced in '83. I was 13 when that happened and I still played with them but in secret.
A lot of the guys there that were crazy into this stuff were way older than me. Which was kinda weird. These guys can't possibly have childhood memories of this stuff. Most of them struck me as NRA types and ex-military. Weird.

I don't remember. Maybe a couple of hundred. I was surprised the big things didn't go for more. It was little stuff that called for the crazy money. What does the Joe aircraft carrier go for? I learned what envy was when my firend Ryan got one for Christmas.
Oh yeah! Small stuff. There's a company that produces the little plastic guns. They make replacement pieces but also make tons of other replicas. You name any gun and they probably had it. Pretty cool. There were hundreds and they were doing good business.

the U.S.S. Flagg typically goes for about $250. A friend of mine got one when we were kids. I thought it was really cool, but way to damn big to have in your room.
