He only got to send the cops in because they didn't show for their own hearing. Could that happen in the US? I don't see why not.

UK banks seem to be particularly irresponsible in a lot of different ways, whether lending money or charging fees; they are out of control. Not all of them, but as a general rule, they're crooks.

To do that in the US, you would have to make sure you win a court case against a bank...

I heard something like this on the news. I think Canadian government's gonna attempt to ban withdrawal fees for cash withdrawals, possibly including withdrawals on competitor's ATMs. I could also have mistaken the purpose of the news story.
