any washington mutual customers

Postby Dogatron » Wed Nov 29, 2006 2:19 pm

I dunno if this bank is nationwide in the US or anyone here is a customer with WaMu but I just got an email saying my bank account was 'compromised by outside parties' and since I'm not a customer I figure it's clearly dodgy...the link to help said it was directed to wamu.com/accountverification but was actually directed to wamusecurityupdate.com

so if anyone here is a customer or if you know anyone who is then give them the heads up...

I get stuff all the time "from" them and Chase; usually looks pretty good. I even get stuff that looks like it's pretty official message from my company, but of course I know I don't have a problem with my credit card billing with my company, since I'm not paying them.

If I get something and I'm not sure wheather it's bogus, I always type in the company's URL manually, as opposed to clicking the links.

I have a wamu account but I never click on links in emails. I go to a company's website and go through that way.

My yahoo mail account was hijacked a year or so ago by clicking on a link to a (supposed) an email greeting card. I'm really attached to that email address so I was glad that I was able to get it back.
