evening standard headline this afternoon was along the lines of 46C on the tube, 52C on the buses. We sat in green park and had a picnic in the shade, most pleasant.

I just spent 4 hours doing roofing inspections. I hope I don't have to elaborate on how unpleasant it was.

Yes, they do.

I've lived in Nevada and southeastern Louisiana and as with most overused sayings, there is truth to it. There's oven heat (Las Vegas) and sauna heat (Louisiana). Oven heat is better to breathe but sauna heat is better for your skin.
