ok, now I can't go Sunday because I have a conference thingie to go to (I might still go Sat). But guess what the "Tuedsay night entertainment" is at the conference?
The B52s. Yea! Last time I saw them there were many many drag queens in different colored bee hive wigs, bet this crowd is a bit stiffer.

I'm working at WOS this time around. I was supposed to last year but got sick the morning of and had to bale.
So, come up and say hi.
Or tap on my shoulder. As Roach found out, I'm pretty damn hard of hearing.

Other than a few small rockstars throwing rockstar-fits about the fact that their rockstar-girlfriends had to pay to get in... everything went very smoothly.
Saturday was packed. Sunday the crowd was much thinner.
I was out back helping with the load-in so I didn't get to catch everyone. And after hearing about 50 of the 85 bands that showed... you kind of lose track of who rocked and who just showed up and played.
Pleasant Grove, The Black Angels, My Education, The Arm, The Danes, Record Hop... I remember them showing up and really bringing it. Of course, there were other bands that I thought were complete crap but I'll be nice and refrain.
Oh! And these poors kids, The Man Factory, not a whisker on the whole bunch, were the first band to play on Sunday. Moms and dads were about the only ones in the crowd and they still gave it their all! I got to give it to 'em. An E for Effort, man.
I didn't stick around on Sunday. I was sunburned, hungry, sleep deprived and freakin' worn out from load-in so I took off around 3:30. It was a good three hours before anyone was going to show up that I even cared to catch. Kinda bummed because I did want to check out a few bands I haven't seen yet - Spitfire Tumbleweeds... The Golden Falcons... but I knew I'd get around to seeing them eventually.

day 1 all the bands arrived and wanted to play 4th on the bill so there was some blood crazed hopscotch beatbox action until the moon came out and everyone decided drinking heavily was the only option until there were 4 bands standing so they could all play at the same time. unfortunately none of the bands were in synch with their drinking so in the end, the happy mints, black tie grove, sorta baboon gato played support and daryl (featuring special guest roach) headlined.
day 2 all the bands slept. the sound of 173 people snoring became known as the 'sleepforkjam' and after a short clip featured on the OC, the 48 cd set soundtrack sold 890 million copies worldwide. the debris from the previous night's debauchery was collected and won the Turner prize.
